SAY WHAT? Nicolas was born deaf, which means the CDC's lovely little earpiece with its lexicon of language translations is pretty much useless to him. He has the ability to read lips, though, which helps him better communicate with people who are not well-versed in sign language. Unfortunately, the only language he can read is English, with a few samplings of Japanese. Given panfandom's glorious multitude of languages to work with, that causes some problems! What language do they speak? Usually fake-Chinese, but she knows fake-English as well.
Do they speak using a mouth/lips that can be read? A-yup
If yes, do they have a tendency to talk fast? Nope, she speaks at a fairly normal pace.
Anything else to note? Her mask does have a hole to see her mouth through, but obviously odd angles would make things difficult. Once she knows he's deaf she'll probably take off the mask around him, though.

I figure the only real difference would be accent, which isn't an issue for Nic so much?
